Personal Bible Study
A big part of spiritual growth is being comfortable reading the Bible for yourself--and building that into a habit. It is a BIG book and there are some confusing parts. But it is NOT a book just for the "experts." As a Christian, God has equipped YOU to read and understand His word. In fact, He expects you to WANT to read it.
When you read it, you will learn it is not just a big book of rules. It is a book that tells the story of how God has sought a relationship with us from the very beginning of the world. And He continues to pursue a relationship with us.
So, pick it up and start reading!
A Couple Hints:
- Don't beat yourself up if you miss a day.
- Don't be afraid to ask questions about what you've read.
- Don't start reading in Leviticus! *
*The New Testament is generally an easier and more helpful place to start. Reading through Matthew, Mark, Luke or John can be really helpful, since they all share the stories of Jesus' life.
